I have found another website that gives an in depth knowledge of terms required for secondary students, however it has given me an idea for a lesson that could be used with Key Stage 2 children.
Using the Old Maps Website children can find a map of their local area and explore how the area looked several years ago.
Then, using the Ordinance Survey Website the children could find a recent map of the area and could compare changes in the settlement over a period of time. This lesson would help to build on knowledge of settlesments but would also increase competence in ICT capabilities and using the internet.
